Illegal Discharge of Oil Pollutant—April 4, 2014

Illegal discharge of pollutant

Influent from City was diverted into empty concrete clarifying tanks, previously used at WWTP. Picture shows pollutant being pumped using a self-priming centrifugal pump from cell into clarifying tanks.

Before and After Treatment Samples

Sample of before and after

The WWTP experienced a second instance of illegal discharge of oil pollutant in April, 2015.  In each instance, the combined technologies of BiO2 Biological Treatment Process and Electrocoagulation allowed the City to avoid the high cost of pumping and hauling the pollutant to a Hazardous Waste Facility and stay in compliance with their permit limits.
